The Clifton 410 Shoulder Rebate Plane fills the need for a narrow light and accurate shoulder plane. At just 18 mm wide, the Clifton 410 is perhaps the most suitable plane for most cabinet-making needs due its compact size that enables you to do precision joinery work such as crating square shoulders in tenons and cleaning up tenon cheeks.
The cutting iron is significantly thicker than the old Preston and Record versions; it is made of carbon steel which means you can get a sharp cutting edge that is hard to achieve with other iron steels. The mouth is very fine, giving an incredibly high standard of surface finish.

The body is machined from quality grey iron casting and precision ground on the sole and the sides. The lever arm is made of unbreakable malleable iron and fits snugly into the body of the plane. The cutting iron fits smoothly onto the machined pads in the body and can be finely adjusted by means of a screw. The finish is bright ground.
