Shinwa rule stop for 30 cm rules

Shinwa rule stop for 30 cm rules

Made in Japan, the brass stop attaches to rules with a 25mm x 1 mm profile like the Shinwa 30cm. The device slides along the rule and can be locked to a desired position to use as either a marking gauge, to set and transfer measures, as a depth gauge and many other uses. How to make the most of the Shinwa rule stop?

The brass stop can be used to turn straight rules into e.g. a marking gauge by setting a measure, lock the stop and use the edge of the rule to mark a work piece either with a pencil or a knife. It can also be used to measure depth, for example of a tenon or dovetail, or when planning a workpiece to check for high points along the edge.
