Description
Japanese planes are excellent tools with superb steel that gets a terrific sharp edge. They are also simple tools, comprised of just 4 parts: the body (dai), the blade (kanna ba), the chip breaker (osae gane) and the pin (osae-bou). This makes them quite easy to maintain and very durable.
One does need to get used to the adjustment method of a Japanese plane (taps on the back of the body) but with a bit a practice it becomes a core tool in the workshop
